The CITB’s (CSkills) Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course, is recognised as the premier course for site and project managers who work in the construction sector. This five-day course is also ideal for owners, managers or directors of civil engineering and construction-related companies.
As a manager of a civil engineering or construction site, the law makes you responsible for not only the health and safety of all those individuals working and visiting your site, but also the environmental issues that impact on the site and on the local area.
The main objective of the course is to ensure that you understand the limit of your legal responsibilities in these important areas. As such, Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations are covered in-depth as is the importance of communication skills which enable the promotion of a robust health and safety culture.
The SMSTS course is delivered over five days and, for your convenience, we often run courses on a one-day-a-week basis to allow you not to be missing from site for extended periods of time.
To be eligible for this course you must have a good understanding of written and spoken English as large parts of the course depend on the interaction of delegates in order that anecdotal situations can be discussed and best practice shared.
The SMSTS course is accredited and administered by CSkills and on passing the course you will be awarded the SMSTS certificate which is valid for five years. The certificate application process will be handled by us.
If your company pays levy to the CITB they are able to claim a grant of a minimum of £250.00 and we can manage the grant application process for you.
Our SMSTS tutors are former site managers and are therefore able to relate and empathise with situations that you have experience of and able to make the course relevant to today’s modern methods of construction.
